New CFA Sites Condition Campaign: ‘Clear our Workspace’

The latest addition to the suite of member benefits CFA provides is the ‘Clear Our Workspace’ campaign, aimed at contractor members to address a significant challenge – maintaining clear and accessible workspaces on multi-trade sites.

Building on the success of its first ‘Winter Warning’ sites conditions campaign (which helps members to achieve adequate heating on sites during the colder months), ‘Clear Our Workspace’ tackles another critical area: clear workspaces and uncontaminated subfloors.

The CFA’s latest site conditions campaign offers a comprehensive response to this widespread issue. It provides a toolkit with several key resources to help raise awareness and foster better collaboration from main contractors and other trades on-site. Among these resources is a site poster, which can be printed and displayed on notice boards ensuring that all trades are aware of the requirements for a successful flooring installation. A particularly innovative feature of the toolkit is an email footer designed to highlight the necessity of good site conditions. This small but effective tool can be used in daily communications to consistently reinforce the campaign message. Furthermore, members will have easy access to section 2 of the CFA’s Guide to Contract Flooring via a QR code, which provides instruction on best practice and the British Standards to enable flooring contractors to perform their jobs efficiently and effectively.

The ‘Clear Our Workspace’ campaign and toolkit is not just about providing tools and guidelines; it is also about empowering our members to make professional decisions. Central to this campaign is the CFA principle of the responsible ‘NO’. This principle supports flooring companies in making the tough decision to delay installation if site conditions are not suitable. By doing so, contractors can avoid the risk of floor failure, which ultimately benefits all parties involved.

The ‘Clear Our Workspace’ campaign demonstrates the CFA’s commitment to supporting members with practical, effective solutions to the challenges they face on the job. By promoting cleaner, more organised work environments, the campaign not only enhances the quality of flooring installations but also fosters a culture of professionalism and collaboration within the construction industry. The CFA encourages all members to take advantage of this new benefit and incorporate the toolkit into their daily operations to promote optimal results.

Working on behalf of CFA members and the sector, there is also a social media campaign by the CFA aligned to the toolkit, aiming to raise awareness of this issue amongst builders, main contractors and the wider construction industry.
