CIC Publishes Recommendations for the Built Environment

The Construction Industry Council (CIC) has published a comprehensive set of joint recommendations to the government from built environment professionals: ‘Building A Safer, Healthier And More Sustainable Future For All’ identifies key actions the government can take to enhance our country’s wellbeing and productivity by ensuring a safer, healthier, and more sustainable built environment for all. The document can be found here.

With buildings meant to last generations, the CIC promotes a long-term mission driven commitment to provide safe and sustainable homes. Dr Wei Yang, Chair of the CIC, urges the government to:

  • Prioritise improving the built and natural environment to enhance national health and wellbeing
  • Develop a national roadmap with built environment professionals to urgently address climate change and biodiversity decline
  • Invest in innovation and core skills in research, education, practice, and lifelong learning in the built environment

The recommendations breakdown how the government can act on these key concerns with the aim to encourage transformational changes that can successfully address critical issues affecting the built and natural environment.
