The Flooring Show recently concluded its 62nd edition after opening its doors from Sunday 15th to Tuesday 17th September 2024 at the Harrogate Convention Centre. As the UK’s leading flooring exhibition, hosting over 400 brands and drawing in thousands of visitors, it was a ‘must-visit’ for anyone connected to the flooring industry.
This year, The Flooring Show noticeably expanded its offerings for a design-focused audience, hosting its ‘Design Spotlight’ in Hall Q, featuring cutting-edge residential and commercial flooring solutions to inspire architects and interior designers.
Sustainability was also a priority. For a second year, The Flooring Show hosted a sustainability trail where exhibitors who are actively working toward a more environmentally friendly future through their implementation of sustainable practices were marked with a leaf in the show guide.
Training also continues to be a cornerstone of what attendees benefit from at The Flooring Show. The Flooring Industry Training Association (FITA) and the National Institute of Carpets and Floorlayers (NICF) are key drivers behind this success.
The FITA demonstrations in Hall B continue to draw large crowds, creating the opportunity to learn new skills, tips and tricks from leading industry professionals. Delivered by industry, for industry is a key principle of the ‘FITA Way’. Across the first two days, a packed schedule of live demonstrations provided valuable insights on a wide range of flooring products and techniques. On the final day, the FITA team opened up to any questions and performed bespoke demonstrations.
The FITA demo team were also joined by their apprenticeship partners Webs Training Ltd, who were on hand to offer support to those looking at new skills and answer any apprenticeship queries.
Another way in which training was uplifted at The Flooring Show was through the Fitter of the Year Carpet Competition 2024, as the finals hosted by the NICF took place over the course of the show. Congratulations are owed to Richard Long, winner of the competition, who received a cash prize of £2,000 along with amazing prizes donated by the competition’s sponsors.
Richard is pictured receiving his trophy, presented by Suzy Makin of Ocean Media Group Ltd, alongside Ian James, Head Judge and Compere.
